Frequently Asked Questions

You will find answers to your questions about the Discussion Board in this area.  If you don’t find what you are looking please contact staff at info@achne.org.


First Time Access

  • You need to activate your account and review your settings.
  • You must click on the link to edit your profile to proceed.
  • On the profile page the only thing required is your Username and Email address.
    • The User name is what will appear on the discussion threads if you post something.
    • You also have the option to add a Signature, which will appear at the end of each post you submit. This is the same concept as an email signature in your email program.  This is optional.
    • You may also elect to receive emails in your email program if someone sends you a private message from the Discussion Board. 
    • If you subscribe to the threads you will receive an email in your email program when something is sent out from the Discussion Board.
  • Once you have clicked on the Save Information at the bottom of the profile, you will receive a message that your Profile has been updated successfully.  Once you receive that message you can use the links at the top of the profile to navigate the Discussion Board area.

Discussion Board Profile

  • You may navigate to your profile page and make updates whenever you like. Click on the Profile link in the Discussion Board navigation.
  • On the profile page the only thing required is your Username and Email address.

Discussion Board Navigation

  • Home
    • The Home link will take you to the list of Forum groups. 
    • Not everyone will have access to the groups listed under the Committees section.  Those groups are for committee members to communicate about activities they are working on. They are Private Groups.
  • Search
    • The Search link can be used to find a post. 
    • You can search by phrase, date, and username posted by.  You may also choose which forum you want to search in.
  • Profile
    • The Profile link will take you back to the Profile page so you may make edits to your Discussion Board account.
  • Member List
    • The Member list link will show you a list of other members that are activated in the Discussion Board. They will be listed by Username.
  • Blogs
    • The Blogs link will show you which groups are using a blog and when someone has posted to one of them. Not all groups may choose to have a blog.
  • My Threads
    • The My Threads link will show you which discussion threads you have participated in and which ones you are subscribed to.  You may also unsubscribe from threads in this area.
  • Private Messages
    • The Private Messages link is an internal email box. You can send a message to a user in the Discussion Board that will only be seen by them and you. You must use the username of the person to send the message.  The username can be found in the Member List link.
    • You may only send a message to one user at a time.
  • Logout
    • If you use this Logout it will log you out of both the Discussion Board and the Members Only area of the site.

Participating in Discussions

  • You may participate in a discussion either by going to the Home page and the group or going to My Threads and the group or thread.
    • Click on the Group to go to the discussion page.
      • You may click on the New Thread button to start a new conversation.
      • Or click on the link next to the Thread you want to participate in.
  • In the Thread you have the option to Subscribe to the thread or Post a Reply.
    • When you Post a reply you may use basic formatting in the text.  You may also attach a file to the post.
