Nominations for ACHNE Leadership Positions
The ACHNE Nominations Committee invites you to join the ranks of its dedicated members. Be a leader in the future of community health nursing education. Nominations are now open to ACHNE members for the following leadership positions:
- Vice President
- General Member-at-Large (Chair of Membership Committee)
- Midwest Region Member-at-Large
- Northern Region Member-at-Large
- Nominating Committee (Two members)
Nominating and Election Process:
DEADLINE EXTENDED: Completed nomination materials are due by midnight on Friday, December 21, 2018. Self-nomination is encouraged. All positions are a two-year commitment (2019-2021). Descriptions of the duties of each of the open positions and the eligibility requirements are found below.
Upon approval by the ACHNE Board of Directors, the Nominating Committee will prepare a ballot and accompanying materials. Electronic balloting shall be open to all eligible members at least 90 days in advance of the Annual Institute membership meeting. The election period shall be of at least four (4) weeks duration but no more than six (6) weeks duration. Election is by majority vote as described in the bylaws.
Post-election notification of all candidates shall be made no later than two (2) weeks after the election results are reported to the President of the Association. Newly elected officers shall be announced at the Annual Membership Meeting. The term of office for those elected shall begin at the close of the annual meeting at which they were elected.
Nomination materials must include:
- Download and complete the Nomination Application and Consent to Serve form, which includes a brief (limit of 250-300 words) campaign statement to be used on the ballot. The campaign statement should include a brief summary of your research experiences, your prior leadership experiences, and your reasons for seeking a leadership position in ACHNE.
- Current CV and Photo.
- Nomination materials should be sent to the ACHNE Nominating Committee Chairs: Heide Cygan, DNP, RN, PHNA-BC or Susan Harrington, PhD, RN
ACHNE Leadership Position Descriptions:
Vice-President: The Vice President shall serve as the Chairperson of the Program Committee. It shall be the responsibility of the Program Committee to obtain program ideas from the Association membership regarding program plans to be implemented by the Committee throughout the year. Additionally, the Vice-President shall assist in providing direction and structure for organizational activities through active participation on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee and maintain regular contact with the President to keep current on organizational issues and up-date President on program activities. Eligibility: Four (4) years as ACHNE member, former ACHNE committee member or office holder.
Secretary: The Secretary shall maintain records of the Association’s proceedings and resolutions; issue notice of meetings; arrange details of meetings that are not otherwise delegated to others; and perform general functions commonly identified with such office. The Secretary will assist in providing directions and structure for organizational activities through active participation on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee and act as recorder at all Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings as well as yearly membership meetings. Eligibility: Three (3) years as ACHNE member, former ACHNE committee member or office holder.
Members-at-Large: The Members-at-Large serve as the contact persons for the members of the ACHNE regions. The Members-at-Large serve on the Board of Directors. The General Member-at-Large serves as the Chairperson of the Membership Committee. Eligibility: One (1) year ACHNE member.
Open Member-at-Large Member Positions (1 per region):
General Member-at-Large: Membership Committee Chair
Midwest Region Member-at-Large: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wisconsin
Northern Region Member-at-Large: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont.
Nominating Committee: It shall be the responsibility of the Nominating Committee to propose candidates for the positions of President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Members-at-large, and Chairperson for the Nominating Committee, and Nominating Committee members. The Nominating Committee shall prepare the ballot to the membership. Eligibility: Two (2) years as an ACHNE member.
**Remuneration disclosure: The Association is not obligated to pay the cost of travel, hotel bill, or per diem expenses for elected or appointed officials conducting authorized business of the Association.
