Colleagues, AACN has been collaborating with CDC for the past 4 years to strengthen nursing education in public and population health. One of the endeavors we are engaged in is to begin to develop mechanisms to evaluate whether our teaching strategies are helping our students gain knowledge and skills in PHN, as measured by the QC competencies for generalist practice. To that end, we have developed a short vignette, with questions to assess student competency in a few key areas. We want to pilot this vignette in 4-5 schools, with traditional BSN programs. We need 20 students at the early stages of their nursing program, and 20 students just before graduation, from each program. We will be collecting data in the next 4 weeks. If you are interested in your school's participation, please contact Susan Swider, PhD, APHN-BC, FAAN at email@example.com. Thanks for considering.
