2027 ACHNE Annual Institute

Intended Audience

Public health and community health nursing educators, public health leaders, public health nurses, and students and partners interested in public health, health equity, population health, social determinants of health, and other public health issues.

Purpose

To provide a scholarly and supportive community for those committed to excellence and innovation in community/public/population health nursing education, research, and practice.

Conference Objectives

The 2027 Annual Institute is designed around key focus areas to guide community and public health nursing education and practice:

• Apply purposeful and courageous leadership strategies that strengthen community and public health nursing education, practice, and professional identity.
• Examine innovative, evidence-based approaches to prevention and upstream population health that promote health, reduce disparities, and improve outcomes across diverse communities.
• Explore strategies for addressing social and environmental determinants of health, including the effects of climate change, environmental threats, and emerging population health challenges.
• Strengthen advocacy, policy engagement, and community partnerships to protect populations experiencing health inequities, barriers to care, disasters, and other threats to health and well-being.
• Evaluate research, scholarship, educational innovation, curriculum, and emerging technologies that prepare nurses and nurse educators to respond to evolving community and population health needs.
• Cultivate mentorship, collaboration, and professional partnerships that develop current and future leaders and advance the impact of community and public health nursing.
